National Trust - Stoneacre

Stoneacre Ln, Otham, Maidstone ME15 8RS, UK – 01622 861584

A little gem, not very well publicised but worth a visit. The guides are so enthusiastic about this property. There is a tea room but as we didn't use it cannot comment personally.

A delightful property with sympathetic gardens to enhance it. You will find it in a lovely rural agricultural setting so take time to absorb it all. RB

Boat Moorings & Marinas

Allington Marina Ltd

Castle Rd, Allington, Maidstone ME16 0NH, UK – 01622 752057

Pleasant marina along the banks of the River Medway. Being on the opposite side of the river little access to general public. Interestingly even on bright sunny days all the boats remain in their morings.

It was a second home best marina in the south east strongly recommend it to anyone especially first time boaters .

Fords Wharf Boat Yard

Fords Wharf, Maidstone ME16 0BP, UK – 01622 752918

Fabulous day out, couldn't have been any friendlier or more helpful. Steve showed us how to operate the hire boat ( very easy ) . Beverley sorted all the other bits and was there to welcome us back. If your looking for a wonderful day on the river at reasonable prices , don't look any further than here ! We will definitely use you again , thank you. Ron & Alison Wilson.

Great place to be

Boat Trips & Excursions - if available

Kentish Lady Hire Cruisers Ltd

Undercliffe Boathouse, Bishops Way, Maidstone ME15 6XG, UK – 01622 753740

Had a fantastic 4 hour cruise Saturday evening for my sister and brother-in-laws ruby wedding. The captain and crew were lovely people, the boat and toilets were nice and clean, the buffet was lovely and plentiful and the bar was very reasonable prices. It was such a gorgeous evening we were able to sit outside, if you're looking for a party venue with a difference look no further than the Kentish lady.

Visited with my WI the other day. Weather was beautiful, so the trip up the river was beautiful. We opted for the fish and lunch, followed by fresh fruit. There was a bar on board, so had to try one or two glasses of plonk to finish the day off.

Local Parks & Gardens

Brenchley Gardens

7 Station Rd, Maidstone ME14 1QJ, UK – 01622 752508

During the day and especially in the summer it is a very nice place to come to and chill out, I have done so on numerous occasions with friend and family. It is a beautiful park and there are numerous events held in it throughout the summer months. Plenty of space for a picnic and is located right next to the high street, so isn't out of the way at all. It is probably best to stay away at night because it is known for drug users and various other crimes which is unfortunate but it doesn't seem as though the authorities really have much presence in the area.

Beautiful park. Superbly maintained. Bit of a car park during the week though.

South Park

Armstrong Rd, Maidstone ME15 6AZ, UK – 01622 602000

Very nice park kids loved it got everything there you need down to swing sets slides and that and also nice pic playing field through to sit down and have you little picnic and that if wanted

I did not know this park existed, I must have driven past it 50+ times. It is a free public park with free parking. There is disabled parking, with level access. There is a children's play area with swings etc . There is also lots of grass for games and picnics.

Penenden Heath

Borstal Rd, Maidstone, Rochester ME1 3NN, UK

Great place to take the children, big field to play football with friends or tennis, or take a picnic and enjoy the outdoors. Lovely playground next door, or even go on a nature trail through the woods.

Really nice park. Easy parking, decent toilets, great green. Was perfect for volleyball today
